How we Can Help
SERVICE 01 | DIVORCE & CIVIL PARTNERSHIPS
Divorce/Civil Partnership Dissolution
These proceedings can be dealt with on a stand alone basis but it is usually best to consider financial issues as well.
A stand alone divorce can be undertaken on a fixed fee basis, currently £500 for the Applicant and £400 for a Respondent, plus court fees (which do change as set by the court) or a fee exemption or reduction can be obtained. Currently as at August 2024
More complex divorce cases would be dealt with on a time basis if necessary.
SERVICE 02 | FINANCIAL RELIEF
Financial Relief
Finances can often be the most contentious part of a divorce or separation and every case is different. As a result cases are charged on a time basis upon an hourly rate. This rate will be bespoke assessed to the complexity of the case.
For example a case requiring a consideration of a smaller pot of assets with less complexity will be charged at a rate lower than a case involving a larger pot of assets, multiple properties, potential coercive control elements and conflict, businesses and pensions.
Every case is as important as the other and a costs benefit analysis needs to be applied to ensure that crucial money is not wasted on legal fees when a client has needs to be met such as rehousing. The key is ensuring that a client can re-establish themselves after the division of the assets.
SERVICE 03 | PRE-NUP, POST NUP & COHABITATION
Pre Nuptial Agreements, Post Nuptial Agreements and Cohabitation Agreements
Relationship planning can be a vital tool in preventing difficulties on separation. A pre nuptial or post nuptial agreement can help with this. These agreements differ in complexity depending upon the matters to be covered. Fees are charged on a time basis at an hourly rate set on a bespoke basis as detailed above.
SERVICE 04 | SEPERATIONS
Separations
The rules and guidance for the separation of non-married couples is very different from married couples. There is no such thing as a common law spouse and each case will be assessed on an individual basis. These can be resolved by agreement and negotiation with court as a last resort.
Fees are charged on a time basis/hourly rate set on a bespoke basis.
SERVICE 05 | CHILDRENS CASES
Children’s Cases
Children’s matters can be very difficult for clients to navigate and cover a vast range from simple agreements to highly contested court cases. There may be a need to address the time that a child sees each parent and who the child lives with or if the care of a child is shared.
All of these cases are now called Child Arrangements as the variety of arrangements to be considered have increased over time with the development of society and easier national and international movement.
